The Roanoke Girls

The Roanoke girls never last long around here. In the end, they either run or they die. After her mother's suicide, fifteen-year-old Lane Roanoke comes to live with her grandparents and cousin Allegra at the family's estate in rural Kansas. At first she is swept up by the glamour and privilege of being a Roanoke girl. But beneath the surface lies a dark and disturbing family secret. Eleven years later, when Allegra disappears, Lane returns home to search for her cousin and confront the truth she tried to leave behind. Moving between past and present, The Roanoke Girls explores the devastating consequences of family secrets and the ties that bind people together even when they threaten to tear them apart.
